MIXING OPTIONS

FOAM CANNON MIXING

FILL TWO FOAM CANNONS WITH WATER TO THE MAX FILL LINE.
USING THE INCLUDED SCOOP, ADD ONE SCOOP OF STARS INTO ONE FOAM CANNON, AND ONE SCOOP OF STRIPES INTO THE OTHER FOAM CANNON
AGITATE SLIGHTLY AND LET DISSOLVE FOR 1-2 MINUTES.

Tip: Add 1 scoop for maximum efficiency ~OR~ add 2 scoops for maximum power

5 GALLON PAIL MIXING

FILL TWO 5 GALLON PAILS WITH WATER.
POUR 16OZ OF STARS POWDER INTO ONE PAIL, AND 16OZ OF STRIPES POWDER INTO THE OTHER PAIL.
SHAKE WELL, LET DISSOLVE FOR 20 MINUTES.
DISPENSE STRAIGHT INTO A FOAM CANNON OR PUT YOUR POWER WASHER SOAP TUBE STRAIGHT IN THE PAIL.

Freedom From Filth in Just 4-Steps:

STEP 1: Knock off any heavy build-up with a high PSI pre-rinse

STEP 2: Foam STARS onto the vehicle, working from bottom to top. Work in a manageable-sized section. Streaking can occur on polished aluminum if the soaps dry before they are rinsed off.

STEP 3: Foam STRIPES directly over Stars working from bottom to top. DO NOT let the soap dwell. It's important to start rinsing while both soaps are still foamy and clinging to the surface.

STEP 4: Rinse left to right, starting at the bottom of the foamed area. Use high PSI and stay within 12" of surface. Doing this creates a line in the foam and lets you keep track of where you have not rinsed yet. Missing a section while rinsing will leave behind road film.

What's the difference between Patriot powder and regular Stars + Stripes?

Stars + Stripes is Chem-X’s flagship two-step liquid wash system designed for touch-free cleaning. Stars (Blue) is an acid-based pre-soak that breaks through mineral buildup and oxidation, while Stripes (Red) is an alkaline foam that cuts through grease, oils, and road grime. Together, they neutralize on contact for an ultra-effective, fast-acting clean—no brush needed.

Patriot Powder delivers the same two-step wash performance, but in a concentrated powdered form. It’s ideal for high-volume operations or setups that prefer bulk powder mixing for cost-efficiency and storage savings. Once mixed, it mimics the cleaning power of the liquid Stars + Stripes.

Can these soaps be used on a car?

Stars+Stripes are designed to be used on any type of vehicle. Our customers use these on everything from cars to motorcycles and quads to big rigs with highly polished aluminum and even heavy construction equipment.

Can these be used on mirror polished aluminum?

Stars and Stripes is formulated for use on mirror polished aluminum. When washing polished aluminum it is helpful not to let any type of soap dry on it before rinsing, so we recommend washing in sections if working on highly polished surfaces.

Are these soaps safe on my ceramic coating?

It is designed to stay within the pH tolerances of ceramic coatings and sealants, both SiO2 and SiC.

How can I get the best results?

Strength: The most important thing is to find the right ratio to use touch free soaps at, the stronger the mix the cleaner the vehicle, but you want to find the strength that works in your situation while not wasting the soaps.

Impact: It is also important to keep in mind when rinsing that the water pressure is now the physical contact with the surface of the vehicle to scrub it clean, so rinse close and thoroughly, we rinse bottom to top to help get a bit more consistent impact on the surface.

Time: Dwell time once the two soaps are mixed on the vehicle can also be helpful especially on vehicles that have not been washed in a long time, 3-5 minutes of dwell time generally helps here.

Does washing with hot water help?

Heat helps if you have it, we recommend setting a heated power washer to 140 degrees for best results, which may actually reach right up to 100% clean. However heat is not required for up to 95% perfect results with good soft water and close contact high psi rinsing.

Does the quality of my water make a difference in cleaning performance?

The softer your water the better the results. Ideal water can yield up to 95% of what you could achieve with a mitt wash.

What are the environmental impacts of Stars+Stripes?

Stars+Stripes are biodegradable. When used together these soaps will become a neutral pH, which is much better for the environment and also for your vehicle than high alkaline single step soaps.

I have used stars and stripes for some time now.
I use it primarily for AG and commercial equipment. Some clients are reluctant at first when I say touchless and then completely amazed at the end results!

Super Awesome stuff!!!! I filled my 5 gallon kit up to about half inch lower than the factory line. I wanted mine a tad bit stronger for detail shop 💪 I still feel like I am cheating every time I use it lol

This is an awesome product!!! It is easy to use and very affective!!! As we wash a fleet we use the 5 gallon pails and it is super easy!!! Great product just like the rest of Chem-X products

I was going to give 4.5 stars. I would knock the product for the mixing. If you are mixing cannon by cannon, stick to the liquids. These powders take 10+ minutes to dissolve. You can speed this up by using Hot or Warm water. Meh, to me thats a nagative. I mean, having to find warm water on site in the Fall, spring or winter may not be that easy. On the positive side, The powders are awesome for storage, shipping and they cut waste. If you premix chemicals in a five gallon jug, these are definitely a homerun. Overall, they do the job, they foam very well and the packaging is top notch. In my garage these hang on the wall therefore they take up zero shelf space. A definite Plus!

We have been using Stars & Stripes for about a year and are extremely pleased with the results. As close to touch free as you can get. Maintenance washes are also very quick and easy. Also bought the largest hot water power washer from you and it has been stellar.
